Collector (RCW-2000) Setup

Things you’ll need

  1. A pin or similar to poke into the reset hole on the front of the collector

  2. Your WiFi details (WiFi name, username and password). WiFi needs to be standard 2.4GHz frequency (not 5 GHz) with standard WPA2 security.

  3. A phone or laptop that can connect to WiFi networks

Setup

1. First, test the WiFi on your phone, make sure you can connect. Make sure the signal strength is decent in the location where the collector will be positioned. When connected to the WiFi, make sure you can visit https://my.msx.nz (no need to log in - just make sure the page loads OK).

2. Turn on the collector (grey power button on the side), put the pin in the Reset hole for 10 seconds, you should feel it click the switch in there.

3. Go into your phone’s available WiFi networks - you should see one appear with a name similar to “2000WIFI123456”. Connect to that.

4. Once connected, open up the internet app on your phone and type 192.168.2.1 into the address bar. You will be prompted for a username and password, both are admin (lower case - no capitals).

5. You will see a blue screen, there is a little link at the top right to switch between English and Chinese

6. Choose STA mode from the drop down, then click Next.

7. Next to the top field (says UPGRADE-AP) is a Scan button, click that and find the WiFi network you tested before. Click the little dot next to it to select, then click OK. Enter the WiFi password (I find checking the box to Show password helps to reduce typos). Click Save.

8. On the next screen click Restart to save the changes. Wait for the collector to restart, you should see Power and Net LEDs light up solid green, then Status should start flashing really quickly while it connects. When everything is good the Status light should flash once per second.
